The federal city and its economy
As the seat of the federal government and parliament, Bern is shaped by public administration. Federal offices, cantonal services, national associations and federations, and the many firms that work for them, from consultancies to IT suppliers, are part of everyday business life. The canton is also known for healthcare, with a large university hospital, for tourism in the Bernese Oberland, for agriculture, and for precision industry and watchmaking around Biel/Bienne and in the Bernese Jura.
Typical needs in the Bern region
- Associations and federations: member enquiries answered from statutes, regulations and FAQs, in German and French, with a handover to staff when needed.
- Consultancies and suppliers to the administration: long tender documents, regulations and reports searched in seconds by an internal knowledge assistant that cites its sources.
- Medical practices and healthcare providers: referrals, forms and emails sorted and prepared, so staff spend less time on paperwork.
- Tourism and hospitality: a website assistant that answers guests in German, French, Italian or English, also late in the evening.
Public administration in a bilingual canton
The canton of Bern is officially bilingual, German and French, and many offices communicate in both languages. That makes multilingual AI particularly useful: an assistant can read a request in French, find the answer in German-language regulations and draft a reply in French for a staff member to check. AI can also pre-sort incoming mail, extract data from applications and summarise long documents. The decision stays with the office: the system prepares, a person approves.
Data protection and control
Public bodies and organisations close to the administration rightly ask where their data goes. We host in Switzerland or the EU on request, your data is not used to train AI models, and we document how each solution works so that it can be explained to management, to data protection officers and, where needed, in a procurement process.
How we work with clients in Bern
We work mostly remotely, by video call and with shared test environments. For workshops, for example to map processes with your team or to train staff before go-live, we come to you in the Bern region when it helps. Our company is registered in the neighbouring canton of Fribourg, so the trip is short.
